A leading Indian software services firm develops its marketing and sales support collateral through a dedicated team that supports multiple business units. The responsibility of this team was growing rapidly, and the marketing head of the company was looking at ways to make the team more effective.
To help this team, Elevo conducted its signature “Impactful Business Writing” workshop for them. This workshop is based on several well established best practices like the Minto Pyramid principle, practiced by leading management consulting companies around the world. The full day workshop consisted of a half day concepts session with examples drawn from the client’s workplace. The other half of the workshop was dedicated to creating two pieces of collateral using the new concepts. All of Elevo’s workshops include these hands on sessions drawn from the clients’ workplace, that enable quick and effective skills transfer through practical tips.
The senior leadership team at a Fortune 500 software products company wanted to introduce a culture of decision making in their organization through the preparation and presentation of structured business cases. This new way necessitated a change in the mindset of senior managers, whereby they would need to think through all aspects of a business problem, logically analyze available options, and then present their case with clarity and conviction. This change also required the managers to learn new skills like stakeholder analysis, cost benefit analysis, structured communication and presentation, and creative thinking.
Elevo Consulting worked with the client to create a program to train and coach the participants in the new skills. As part of the program the participants worked in small cross functional teams on real business problems, and were coached through the process of creating and presenting a business case. Through the case study the experienced trainer coached the teams, and skill transfer was much more effective.
A technology team at a very large British bank was going through major organizational changes and was grappling with several new challenges. The management team realized that for better business results their teams needed to learn new skills to improve candor, collaboration, and communication.
The bank engaged Elevo Consulting to help design and run a program to up-skill their teams. The Elevo team worked with the bank’s technology team, senior leadership, and other stakeholders to get a clear understanding of their operating environment and challenges, which led to the design of a custom coaching program. This program consisted of 5 workshops, supported by case studies and role plays taken from the participants’ workplace. The program was conducted over 6 weeks and was supported by one-on-one coaching and mentoring.
The results were immediate and visible. Stakeholders and customers of the team were pleasantly surprised with the new culture of collaboration, while relationships of the team improved across the board. Unpleasant email communication and ugly escalations reduced significantly and were replaced with more productive dialogue.
